• A street brawl between the Capulets and Montagues
• Romeo is suffering from unrequited love for a girl called Rosaline

• The young Montagues decide to gatecrash the Capulet ball
• Romeo and Juliet meet

• Capulets’ and Montagues’ servants insult each other, a street fight between them emerge
• Benvolio and Tybalt also involve the fight
• Shortly after Romeo comes and tells Benvolio about his unrequited love

Act 1 scene ii:

• ·        Paris asks Capulets for permission to marry Juliet
• ·        Capulet plans to give a party so Paris and Juliet could meet
• ·        Invitations are delivered ,but servants can’t read and want Romeo to read the guests list
• ·        Rosaline ‘s name is among the guests,so Romeo wants to come to the party although he is a Montague

•     Lady Capulet speaks with Juliet and informs her that Paris is interested in her and would like to marry her.
•     Juliet agrees and wants to meet him at the party

• Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio start to get ready to go to the masked ball
• Mercutio tries to cheer up Romeo with an imaginary story about Queen Mab, who brings strange dreams to people.

• ·        Romeo and Mercutio wear masks,go to the party and search for Rosaline
• ·        Romeo sees Juliet and falls in love with her(he forgetsRosaline J )
• ·        Tybalt learns that Romeo is in the party ,he gets angry and says this to his uncle but his uncle tries to calm Tybalt down because Romeo seems to be a good guy
• ·        Romeo approached Juliet offering "my lips, two blushing pilgrims," to which Juliet replied, "Ay, pilgrim, lips that thou must use in prayer." But Romeo at last convinced her to press her lips to his - just before Juliet's Nurse called her away

• ·        Romeo was stunned to find out that the girl was the daughter of his father's enemy. Juliet, likewise, is surprised when she learns from the Nurse the identity of Romeo
